You can read more about what and how vinegar kills in the article: What Kind of Vinegar to Clean With.
Since all kinds of vinegar kill germs, let's discuss other qualities of vinegar.
Avoiding Pungent Smells and Added Fragrance:
Some people have strong opinions about the way vinegar smells. If you despise the pungent smell of vinegar, don't use cleaning vinegar or white vinegar. Cleaning vinegar and white vinegar are the strongest smelling and are unnecessary. On the other hand, because we are talking about parrots, you always want to avoid added fragrance. Laundry vinegar has added fragrance so avoid using it around your parrot or on anything your parrot may contract. Parrots are very sensitive to fragrance and can have major health issues caused by fragrances even in another room. (Comment below if you would like me to write about how fragrances affect parrots.)
Only Use Parrot-Safe Ingredients
Just because it's food-safe, doesn't mean its safe for parrots. You want to be sure the vinegar is made from sources safe for parrots. Click here for a list of foods that are safe and not safe for parrots. Luckily, most kinds of vinegar are made from apples (apple cider vinegar) or grapes (balsamic vinegar).Don't Break The Bank
There are many types of food-grade vinegar available. Wines, champagnes and balsamic can all get pricey and have no added value to cleaning.
The Best Cleaning Vinegar
Because of its sweet smell and aggressive cleaning power, my favorite vinegar to clean with is Apple Cider Vinegar.References:
